1.WHAT ARE THE APPLICATIONS FOR EnviroStrip® PRODUCTS?
- Removes aircraft paint, primer and various aerospace coating materials
from thin aluminum, composite and other sensitive substrates.
- Removes excess adhesive flashing from thin-skin bonded parts
- Selectively removes polyurethane top coat paint leaving the
epoxy primer intact
- Serves all coating removal requirements demanding minimal
substrate effects and/or damage
- Serves all coating removal requirements requiring environmentally
safe technology
2.WHAT IS EnviroStrip® wheat
starch media?
- EnviroStrip® wheat starch media is made from wheat starch
and is a 100% natural, renewable resource. This non-toxic, non-petroleum
based abrasive product is designed and engineered specifically
for
coating removal applications.
- EnviroStrip® is manufactured in various grit sizes to accommodate
various coating removal requirements
- EnviroStrip® is a biodegradable, organic material, manufactured
to high purity standards.
- Wheat starch media has broad approval for use on aerospace aluminum
and composite structures and is used throughout the aerospace
industry as a primary coating removal process.
3.WHAT IS EnviroStrip® XL
corn hybrid polymer?
- XL is an engineered polymer media derived from corn that is non-toxic
and biodegradable.
It is a good replacement for plastic media, especially when there
are concerns about surface alteration and/or damage often related
to the use of plastic abrasive.
- XL’s moisture resistance and good flowability allow it
to be used in all types of plastic media equipment without modifications
- Corn hybrid polymer was specifically engineered as a paint-removal
abrasive media for delicate aircraft surfaces.
- XL is ideal for
removal of most polyurethane topcoat and epoxy primer
paint schemes from
metal or composite surfaces.
WHAT IS eStrip™ GP and eStrip™ GPX starch-g-acrylic?
- eStrip™ series are
engineered copolymer media derived from grafting starch with
acrylic plastic. eStrip™ media
are classified as starch-g-acrylic media and are
manufactured to
meet the USAF MIL-P-85891A requirement for Type VII media.
- eStrip™ series medias
are designed to replace plastic media, especially when there are
concerns about surface alteration and
or damage often related to the use of plastic abrasive.
- eStrip™ GP is wheat
starch and acrylic based product which exhibits mechanical properties
similar to other starch abrasives.
It is suitable for metallic and certain composite substrates.
- eStrip™ GPX is corn
starch hybrid and acrylic based product which exhibits mechanical
properties similar to other starch
abrasives and is suitable for metallic and certain composite
substrates.
- eStrip™ GPX offers
several advantages, including longer product life (reduced consumption
rates) and UV florescence to assist
post-stripping inspection.
- eStrip™ GPX is moisture
resistance and good flowability allow it to be used in all types
of standard plastic media equipment
without modifications.

6.WHAT PROCESS PARAMETERS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR STRIPPING METAL SUBSTRATES?
| |
NOZZLE PRESSURE:
MEDIA FLOW (1/2” Nozzle):
NOZZLE DISTANCE FROM SURFACE:
IMPINGEMENT ANGLE: |
25 – 40 psi
10 – 16 lb/min
4 – 12 inches
40 – 60 degrees |
7.WHAT PROCESS PARAMETERS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR STRIPPING COMPOSITE
MATERAL?
| |
NOZZLE PRESSURE:
MEDIA FLOW (1/2” Nozzle):
NOZZLE DISTANCE FROM SURFACE:
IMPINGEMENT ANGLE: |
20 – 30 psi
10 – 16 lb/min
4 – 18 inches
20 – 40 degrees |
8.ARE FLAT NOZZLES MORE EFFICIENT THAN CONVENTIONAL ROUND BLAST
NOZZLES?
- For most applications, flat nozzles will outperform round nozzles.
Flat nozzles have been known to double the paint removal rates
in certain manual stripping applications. The flat nozzle’s
ability to evenly distribute the media particles across the nozzle
width
delivers superior performance over round nozzles. This results
in less media consumption per part or area stripped.
9.HOW DO I CHANGE MY FACILITY FROM USING PLASTIC MEDIA TO AN EnviroStrip® PRODUCT?
Minimum Requirements:
- Dry Air: Compressed air should be clean and dried to a 40 degree
pressure dew point
- Dust Separation: A large media mesh-size range is required for
Envirostrip. Change vibratory screens and/or adjust cyclones
to allow media in
the 12 to 100 mesh size to be returned to the storage hoppers.
Other Recommendations:
- Positive displacement media feed valves: allows for accurate
media flow and high flow rates if needed (16+ lb/min)
- 70 degree angle or incline on all storage hoppers and pressure
vessels
- New media make-up feeder: provides new media to system as dust/fines
are removed.
10.WHAT PROCESS GUIDELINES ARE RECOMMENDED WHEN USING EnviroStrip® wheat
starch media?
11.WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN TO SAFEGUARD AGAINST DUST IGNITION?
