Boeing Military Airplanes/Wichita Division issues "NTO" for ADM's EnviroStrip® XL - Corn HybridPolymerMedia

On November 16th, 1999 Boeing Military Airplane Division notified the United States Air Force (OC-ALC) of its “no technical objection” to the use of ADM’s EnviroStrip® XL Corn Hybrid Polymer media.

Boeing conducted tests in accordance with Boeing Document D6-55564 and found Envirostrip XL to be an acceptable media to remove finishes from metallic surfaces on KC-135 and B-52 aircraft.

EnviroStrip® XL Corn Hybrid Polymer media was evaluated at the following parameters:

  • 99.97 percent minimum purity
  • 30 - 35 psi pressure measured at the nozzle
  • 9 –14 pounds per minute flow rate
  • 4 – 8 inches nozzles distance to surface
  • 40 –60 degrees nozzle angle to surface

Boeing’s “NTO” provides for unlimited use (strip cycles) when using EnviroStrip® XL media on the KC-135 and B-52 military aircraft. Boeing's test results can be found in Boeing Document D500-13031-1.
